‘Living the Five’ Bible Study – Beginning Tuesday; January 31, 2017 7 PM

Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town West Virginia invites our entire community to join us for a dynamic new Bible study titled “Living the Five.”  This study focuses on the five key principles that will give you the life you long for and the relationships God wants for you.  The study is based around two key scriptures given to us directly from Jesus.  First, The Great Commandment - Love God with all your heart, your entire mind, and all your being - and love your neighbor as yourself. Asbury UMC – Soup-er Bowl Sunday – February 5, 2017 (8:30, 9:35 & 11:00)

Please support Asbury’s Sunday School & Youth Groups on Sunday; February 5, 2017 as they mobilize to fight hunger in our community by collecting monetary donations & non-perishable foods for Jefferson County Community Ministries. “Soup-er Bowl Sunday” began in 1990 as a way for youth to help those in need and 100% of what they raise stays in the local community. Please support this worthy cause through your donations and also by praying this “Soup-er Bowl” prayer before the big game begins: “Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who may be without a bowl of soup to eat. Are you looking for a ministry of prayer and caring for others? You might consider a unique way to serve as the “hands” of Christ through crocheting or knitting—-and there is opportunity to support this ministry without knowing how to crochet or knit. Prayer is the focus—-and our mission is to create handmade gifts of comfort, hope and peace that demonstrate God’s love. Praying for a stranger helps us to learn to trust the truth that God works through us when we care for friends and strangers alike.  Join us as we kick off the 2017 Yarning Season at Asbury on Tuesday; January 24 at 7 PM and learn more about this exciting ministry. Asbury UMC - Boy Scout Troop 42 Valentines Dinner - February 11, 2017 5:30PM

Did you know that it costs over $300 to send one young man to Boy Scout Summer Camp?  To help our local troop make camp a reality for all their members, the Asbury United Methodist Men is partnering with Boy Scout Troop #42 to host a Valentines dinner, show and silent auction on Saturday; February 11 , 2017 at 5:30 PM. Asbury UMC in Charles Town WV invites our community to join us on Tuesday; March 7 at 6 PM as we begin our 2017 Lenten Bible Study titled “Restored – Finding Redemption In Our Mess.”  Often we make a mess of our lives and wonder if there is any redemption. Asbury UMC Dinner and a Movie (Ben Hur) – April 09, 2017 3PM

Asbury UMC in Charles Town WV invites our entire community to join us as we come together on Palm Sunday; April 9, 2017 to watch the legendary, record-breaking 1959 movie Ben Hur.  The winner of 11 Oscars, including Best Picture, Director and Actor, this is an epic masterpiece starring Charlton Heston as a rebellious Israelite Jew who takes on the Roman Empire during the time of Christ.  Featuring one of the most famous action sequences of all time, the breathtaking chariot race in the Roman Coliseum.  Come watch this timeless classic on our sanctuary’s big screen.
