Make-A-Wish and PenMar Development Corporation bring KCBS Pro BBQ Competition to Washington County

Cascade, MD - For the first time ever, Washington County will play host to a Professional BBQ Competition on May 25th and May 26th, 2013 at Fort Ritchie in Cascade, MD.  Dubbed THE MEMORIAL DAY PIGNIC, the competition will feature 45-60 professional BBQ teams from all over the East Coast competing for over $7500.00 in cash prizes and awards.  Many of the teams competing have been featured on the popular TV show BBQ Pitmasters and even includes the KCBS National Team of the Year – 3 Eyz BBQ.

The teams will be competing in (4) meat categories including Ribs, Chicken, Pork Butt, and Brisket that will be Judged by Kansas City BBQ Association Certified BBQ Judges.  There will also be (2) additional categories – the Iron Chef Choice and People’s Choice Competitions.  The People’s Choice Competition will provide attendees to THE PIGNIC with an opportunity to taste and judge BBQ made by the Professional Teams!

The Saturday-Sunday event will also feature a huge KIDZ Zone with monster-sized inflatable rides, climbing wall, paddle boats and kayaks for lake excursions, helicopter rides, laser tag, tons of great BBQ teams/vendors selling pork, brisket, ribs, etc. as well as, RITA’S Italian Ice, pigtail fries, and tons of other goodies. 

For adults THE PIGNIC will feature the Sam Adams/Coors Light Beer Garden and Sound Stage with live bands playing a variety of great music over both days of the event and the Bull Ride Challenge – ride the bull the whole way and get VIP passes including free beverages and BBQ!
