Course Description: Students will be immersed in three 2-day workshops that are designed to introduce the student to a snapshot of the complete two-year program that is covered at JRTI. Students will spend time understanding shop safety, 3 D modeling, 3 – D printing, engineering journaling, robot design and build, virtual programming, and robotic programming. The class culminates with an actual competition that is modeled after the VEX competition that the “Tri-County Robotics Afterschool Program” are involved in on a yearly basis. Parents will be invited to the competition on July 31, 2018. The time for the competition will be announced once we have met the minimum requirements for student enrollment.

Each day students will be led by an instructor, along with current and former students. Your student will have an opportunity to design, print and keep a small 3-D model (this will take place in first session). They will receive JRTI email accounts and gain access to all Google educational apps. Additionally, students should come with k12 accounts that should have been given to all students through their home schools**. At the competition, students will compete for the opportunity to be invited to participate with the high school VEX team the following year, which includes after school builds and competitive events throughout the year.

A syllabus for each session will be emailed to all participants one week prior to the scheduled start time. In the event we have more than 16 students interested in the program, there will be a short assessment that covers math, locating information and an informal interview with the instructor. On competition day, anybody visiting should bring a bag lunch. Students need to pack lunch daily.

REMEMBER A minimum of 10 students will be needed to make the BOOT CAMP happen so sign up today. You do not have to make all the sessions, only those sessions with at least 10 will be held.

**k12 accounts should be obtained through your school’s Technical Integrated Specialist before summer break, If your student is home schooled please contact your local school for this information.
