About the ITP iPhone / iPod Touch App
The iPhone / iPod Touch App (currently v2.0), named ITPWV for short, is an extension of the complete website and features News, Events, Coupons, Restaurant Menus, Pictures, Local Businesses and Local Products.

Additionally, the app allows users to share this same content via email and twitter with a few simple touches.

Why an App?
Viewing in a mobile browser, like mobile Safari, provides a rich experience that is identical to that found in a traditional web browser.  The dedicated app is meant to provide an efficient way for users to stay up to date with the most important information on the website while they are on the go.

Additionally, some features - like restaurant menus and coupons - are better suited and more valuable on a mobile device because they allow users to explore, discover and save money while on the go.

Why an iPhone / iPod Touch App?
Since the launch of the iPhone, we knew that was a perfect fit for a device like this and with over 70 million iPhone and iPod Touches in the hands of users, we knew this was an audience that we wanted to target. Additionally, usage stats indicate that the iPhone and iPod Touch are the top two mobile devices used to visit, making up over 80% of all mobile traffic.

Launched in 2006, started as a directory of eastern WV businesses and organizations.  The site has grown to include local news, events, local video, restaurant menus, online coupons, and a local shopping directory, in addition to the original business directory which now includes over 2200 local businesses. has taken a non-traditional approach to news and event coverage by allowing users to directly submit news via a news submission form or by creating a user account.  This democratization of information has allowed news items that may only receive limited coverage in traditional media outlets to receive the coverage that those interested feel it deservers.

Additionally, allows for an event to be covered by multiple sources, in multiple formats (written word, video and still photography) to give readers an in-depth look at local news and events.

The iPhone / iPod Touch App (currently v2.0), is a free download and can be found at or by searching ITPWV in the iTunes App Store.
