Event-filled Month Kicks off Charles Town’s Public Mosaic Project
The C-town Public Arts Committee and Jefferson Arts Council announce a series of public events leading up to and celebrating the public mosaic project led by internationally known artist Isaiah Zagar.
Saturday, May 19, Old Opera House, 204 N. George St., Charles Town, 2:30 p.m. The Jefferson County Community Chorus will hold a concert fundraiser for the C*Town Mosaic Project, Safe Haven, Community Ministries, and the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.
$5 donation at the door.
Week of May 21, Jefferson County Community Ministries, 238 W. Washington St., Charles Town. Watch artists complete the Angel Wing Mural on N. Lawrence St. Free.
Saturday, May 26 through Wednesday May 30, corner of 200 W. Washington St. and Charles St. and in Evitt’s Run Park, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The community is invited to build mosaics designed by Isaiah Zagar. Free and open to the public. Sign up online: https://www.facebook.com/ctownartsandculture/
Tuesday, May 29, Charles Town Library, 200 E. Washington St. 7 p.m. Isaiah Zagar talks about his art. Free and open to the public.
Wednesday, May 30, 6– 9 p.m. Street Fest on Charles Street to celebrate finishing the mosaic. Free and open to the public. Food trucks, music and fun for all ages!
Saturday, June 16, Charles Town’s West Virginia Day celebration. Unveiling of 3 public art works: 10:45 Angel Wing Mural on N. Lawrence St.; 11:15 piano designed and painted by Laura Burkholder’s Washington High School art class in front of Charles Washington Hall, and at 1 p.m. Zagar mosaic on N. Charles Street
