Discovery Station At Hagerstown To Present A Program At The 3rd Annual Maryland Stem Fest

Discovery Station at Hagerstown, Inc. will present “Block-Base Coding With Legos and Dinosaurs” on November 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. This is an official event of the 2017 Maryland STEM Festival.

This program introduces children to block-based coding. This program is great for children 7 and up and uses Lego pieces and toy dinosaurs. Participants will also have access to Discovery Station’s LEGO Robotics Exhibit if they wish to further develop their understanding of coding and robotics.

“In this technologically driven world, coding is as important of a skill for children to develop as writing or reading,” said Brittany Wedd, director of operations for Discovery Station. “This is a great workshop to introduce children to the concept of coding as it utilizes popular elements like Legos and dinosaurs to truly spark their interest.”.

As an official 2017 Maryland STEM Festival event, this program is among hundreds of community-based events that are showcasing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities for the residents of Maryland.

Founded in 2015, the Maryland STEM Festival has become one of the leading, if not, the leading STEM event in the State.  Through a ten-day series of community-based events each fall (hosted by schools, colleges, libraries, museums, parks, businesses and other local organizations), the Festival celebrates the economic, educational and cultural impact of STEM in Maryland.

“STEM is for everyone regardless of their background or experience, STEM is the basis for everything we do, and most importantly STEM is FUN! — The Maryland STEM Festival wants to bring that FUN to every Maryland resident,” said Phil Rogofsky, Festival director.
