"Circles of Voices - Together We Rise" Racial Justice Workshop

Shepherd University is hosting “Together We Rise,” a Circles of Voices racial justice workshop on Saturday, April 14, from 6-9 p.m. in White Hall, rooms 104, 112, and 113. The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Shepherd’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Women’s March, and Berkeley County NAACP.

J.C. Faulk, MSOD is the founder of Circles of Voices, LLC (CoV), which began in January of 2015. Monthly Circles of Voices workshops have brought together thousands of people across Baltimore and in Los Angeles, Charleston, South Carolina, and Nelson, Canada, to talk about topics such as racism, police brutality, transphobia, food deserts, and sexism.

You will leave this creative workshop with unique understandings of modern day racism and other isms and approaches to help foster a more just and equitable society. Circles of Voices brings people together who would not ordinarily come together. It frees people from their silos and creates spaces where we learn how to respect and honor one another.

Even if you have attended diversity workshops in the past, J.C.‘s model is so dynamic and impressive that you will leave uplifted and empowered. The workshop is a potent healing step toward creating racial understanding in our community.
